They make money by having a blog lots of people want to read regularly, then having something like Google Adsense to put ads on their site that people will click on.
Either that, or they find a company like maybe a newspaper to hire them to write about their views.

There are plenty of ways.
The easiest is adding Adsense to your site.
You can also promote affiliate programs in banners and in you post.
As you blog grow you can charge other to advertise on you site.
