    Sure it can.

Just ask the President the President of the Banana Republic. lol

It is only a matter …
It is only a matter of time before the gov’t pulls the plug on lending the states money for unemployment. The printing press can’t go on forever.

    I don’t trust the …
I don’t trust the governments methods at all. But I will say this about the service economy; it is a last resort and if you can get away from it you will. It is a place you can work if you do not have the skill to work anywhere else. That is my personal experience; it will be interesting to see how many of these people will leave that sector when alternatives open up.

  5. TAMARLANE says:

    You are correct …
You are correct about how difficult it will be. We will have to tighten our belts a LOT. But, we must do it. We are facing a civil war now as the socialists are trying to destroy all profit making businesses and confiscate all private property. this will cause the bullets to start flying (they already are in isolated locales). We must get rid of these communists and socialists. We will fight against them just as we have for over 60 years.

  6. TAMARLANE says:

    We must become …
We must become isolationist and protectionist for a time. Bring ALL our troops home. HOme from Afghanistan. from Iraq, from S Korea, from Japan, from Europe. Close our borders. Deport all illegal aiiens. activist communists, socialists, homosexuals, environmentalists.Develop our energy resources, oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear. Rebuild our manufacturing capabilities. Improve our agriculture and water resources.
Build up our miitary. Let the rest of the world stew in their own juices

  7. TheForwardGaze says:

    Withdraw the US …
Withdraw the US military from the world and it will fall into chaos and war. No more global trade, no oil, no Walmart, no PCs, no worldwide internet. The US Navy patrols all of the world’s oceans, keeping the shipping lanes free from piracy. We’re the world’s cop and no one else can do the job, not the UN, the EU, Russia or China. It’s sad but true.

  8. mattrmc19 says:

    all of these people …
all of these people will be laid off after the holidays, unfortunately. even after the end of the recession i fear we will have a stagnant economy with unemployment rates at 8% or so. The old days of 5% unemployment rates are dead. There is nothing government is doing that helps to encourage hiring.

  9. threeredstars says:

    Love your work!!! I …
Love your work!!! I think the economy is getting worse. I own a restaurant in a tourist town and all the restaurant owners here are all complaining. As for Afghanistan, I am a former Marine and I am sorry to say I agree with your assessment . Thank’s Brothers, you’ve done a great job but it’s time to pull out. SEMPER FI

  10. TheBraniac79 says:

    Good post thanks …
Good post thanks for your perspective and keeping us informed. I read on several polls that the unemployment % is like 17% throughout the entire US including under-employment.

  11. phantomcharger says:

    Hard to understand …
Hard to understand how people wouldn’t see that obvious fact.
Lots of temp jobs during the holiday season, but look out afterwards, it will be like the day after “cash for clunker” at the Chevy dealer!
    Lol

Demcad. You do a great job here, and I think we all really appreciate it.

  12. combat1856 says:

    Yeah well if you …
Yeah well if you cant beat em join em. Im ineligible for unemployment insurance I have a small business. They will tax me out of business and you can add a few more to the unemployment roll. Doesnt sound like a recipe for prosperity to me.

  13. skyding8962 says:

    You can expect …
You can expect unemployment benefits for the next decade at the rate congress keeps extending it. There is nothing to fear in this economy. I feel sorry for the people who aren’t eligible for unemployment benefits.

  14. combat1856 says:

    You cant trust the …
You cant trust the economic data the government puts out. Its politicized. The healthcare bill is going to destroy small businesses never mind Cap n Trade. Its going to collapse the only question is whether it will be orderly or not. Tough times ahead folks.

  15. biggeorge77 says:

    The Australian …
The Australian Liberal Government came up with a fantastic way of reducing the unemployment figures.

They made it impossible for people to register themselves as unemployed…

Brilliant thinking! Makes the un-employment figures look fantastic doesn’t it!

  16. PeakedEarth says:

I am kind of in the …
I am kind of in the same boat as Reggie. I am a teacher too but in rural Idaho, and I was told on Friday to expect massive layoffs. I am originally from NYC/NJ – the not so nice parts… I am all alone out here, and I dont know whether to return home to family/friends or stay here and hunt for jobs. It is really hard. I am not in Alaska, so it makes it a bit easier, but still 3500 miles away from home in the middle of no-where, with the prospect of no home or job. Scary.

  17. TheFRESHAgenda says:

    I don’t trust most …
I don’t trust most of the stuff that government does!

  18. m6996j says:

    hi demcad, i work …
hi demcad, i work for smithfield foods, they have shut down 3 plants and consalodated them into the one I work at. they pumped 5 million into my plant, in renovations. After christmas rush there are rummers of layoffs and hour cut backs. It is frightining . . peace hillbilly mik

  19. skyding8962 says:

    To be honest, I …
To be honest, I think Reggie made a smart move back to Michigan after seeing his neighboorhood. First he is with his family and the culture is probably closer to Reginald. Alaska is full of old married women and underage jailbait and there isn’t much to do except outdoor stuff anyways.

  20. PeakedEarth says:

If you feel up to …
If you feel up to it, can you tell us how the transition from Alaska to Michigan has been? Do you miss Alaska? Are you happy to be home? Compare/contrast the two… is Michigan as bad as everyone claims? Thank you for al you do.

  21. skyding8962 says:

    If thats true …
If thats true Reginald, why were there massive job losses accelerating last year at this same time while this year we have no job losses?

  22. markymarkuss777 says:

    The simple fact is, …
The simple fact is, the job growth is not in people making things. There are more government, and healthcare jobs, but our manufacturing progress has not changed. That’s what we need for REAL growth.

  23. DEMCAD says:

    “Wouldnt the …
“Wouldnt the employment drop naturally slow just before the holidays then plummet after?”
I’ve been trying to explain that obvious fact to people for weeks.

  24. solomonred1 says:

    I just think the …
I just think the small increase in jobs is nothing more than temporary seasonal Christmas jobs. I am well aware that we are on a downward spiral.
