You need to send your resume out to real jobs you are qualified to do.

In your cover letter you need to state that you wish to work remotely, from your home office. LOTS of companies, especially in CA operate this way. They usually provide transportation for you to come in for an interview and for you to attend company meetings a few times a year, but otherwise everything is done online.
References :
Is there a legitimate way to make alot of money online?
We've all seen the scams, "make thousands of dollars from home each month with no degree by just clicking". Of course you always have to buy an instructional kit or pay some kind of fee to learn the details.

While some of these really spend hours only telling you how much money they made, they allude to concepts such as posting ads for sites or owning a website of your own and being paid by companies for the advertising space.

Even know we all know the sites putting this idea out there want your money (scamming you), the idea seems somewhat legit.

Advertising is a powerful business that basically funds the television and entertainment industry. Companies pay billions to have their commercials on prime television networks and during prime events, and with so many people online why wouldn't they pay for it to be there too? Now they may not pay the millions that McDonald's does to have it's commercial during the superbowl but on a smaller scale I could see people making semi-decent salaries for a fraction of the work.

The legitimate side of it, however, seems hard to break into. With so many out there trying to capitalize on the idea by scamming you into buying their "get rich quick" product, how can you break into this business?

Has anyone had success with being paid for advertising online without getting scammed? Is there any way to do this? Or did a few people get lucky when it was new and now it's just deflated to where it's no longer profitable?

To be honest I'm not even thinking it's possible to make alot, though I could possibly believe that with legit contacts someone could work independently in internet advertising from home and make 30-40k per year.

Anyone have any real insight?
