    I think the song is …
    I think the song is supposed to be about Orpheus. Hence the title of the album. Orpheus (the narrator) went down to Hades to get his girl back. And to get there, he had to pay the boatman money, to sail him across some sea. And the money he had to pay the boatman was ‘easy money’, because he was going to get his chick back, so he doesn’t care how much it is. I think the stuff about ‘the house where we live’ and ‘my wife and kids’ is just to give the song a modern angle. i could be wrong though..
